clear throat
The Freeman has done a good deed, and for that, we salute you.
Heroes don’t wear capes. They’re just like all of us, but they one day… They decide to be better.
This is what you like to see, not those who he let that man shot in the neck be released into ICE
doing her duty saving lives.
Legend.
Freeman’s employer did not see it this way. When police questioned her (thus collaborating with ICE), she openly said that she disagreed with ICE separating immigrants from their families. Trinity Health fired Freeman and has refused to make any public statement on the events of May 28.
Questioned by the police? It’s time to shut the fuck up
Good on her though
The Underground Railroad was also illegal. But we obviously celebrate it today.
You uh…sure about that?
In America? Yes.
The Nazi’s haven’t won yet, they’re just trying right now.
At least when I was a kid in Seattle we were taught about it in very positive (if somewhat sanitized) terms. I’d expect the Confederate states to be less excited about it.
Grew up in Alabama and was taught about the underground railroad in a positive way.
Despite what you hear, it’s not still the 1860s here
It’s not that long ago that “the War of Northern Aggression” was a thing, and there’s plenty of people alive that physically fought against the Civil Rights Movement. We aren’t nearly far enough away from slavery for me to give The South the benefit of the doubt.
Maybe visit soon while you still have a chance.
Only partly joking. Wouldn’t surprise me one single bit.
It’s not worth it to catch a charge over “fighting” the government. Gen z and millennials really are hell bent on ruining their lives over activism.
Wow, that is a cowardly take.
That’s a weird way to say “I’m weak and can’t understand people doing the right thing”
How does the leather taste today?
How many charges do you have?
Lemmy is not for you.
With a surname like freeman this is gonna be a pr niiightmaaaare
We need more people like Chloe Freeman.
Freeman’s employer did not see it this way. When police questioned her (thus collaborating with ICE), she openly said that she disagreed with ICE separating immigrants from their families. Trinity Health fired Freeman and has refused to make any public statement on the events of May 28. It is criminal that this and other hospital systems allow ICE and CBP agents to enter medical buildings.

The problem is that it’s actually, literally criminal for them to deny entrance to the pigs.
Be gay do crimes then.
disagree, its actually literally not criminal. They dont get to just barge onto private property and do whatever they want. They need a warrant. And no one is required to help them in any way. Their mission is their problem, not anyone elses in a private healthcare setting. They can wait in the waiting room with their thumbs up their asses like everyone else.
This is a catholic hospital. Shame on the catholic church for collaborating with fascism. again.
Catholic hospitals have pretty much nothing to do with the church today. They are exclusively businesses, and they pay less taxes because they operate as religious nonprofits.
Ohh! I love it when we LARP that we have some sort of legitimate legal / justice system!
We have an enforcement arm for the parasitic pedophile rapist class.
I’m an anarchist, brainlet, I just think it’s embarrassing to try and get mad at the hospital about it.
You’re just flat wrong though - the police do not have the right to enter a hospital beyond the public sections (generally, the waiting rooms) without a warrant or permission from the hospital. The hospital in this case gave the police that permission, and unless a statute exists in Michigan specifically allowing this (if one exists I haven’t found it), they are absolutely at fault for doing so.
Trying to parse that last sentence. Who is at fault for doing what?
The hospital is at fault for letting the police in.
Wrong. That’s why the guy got away and she was able to assist him in the first place, specifically because they weren’t barging into operation areas.
My goodness, am I really?
ICE agents accompanied him into the hospital but did not thoroughly guard him at all times. […] Then, Chloe Freeman, a Registered Nurse working her shift, entered the CT room, spoke with O.B.P., and helped him walk through several doors, exit the hospital, and walk out free. He has not been recaptured. (emphasis mine)
Oh - I’m terribly sorry, but you appear to be mistaken. ICE were allowed into the hospital, and as written did not accompany him into the radiology room (since personnel generally do not stand around CT scanners due to the radiation hazard this makes sense). So the hospital does therefore seem to have been at fault for allowing them to accompany the patient - but thank you for looking out for accuracy in comment sections!
Anarchists don’t bow to authority, poser.
Pragmatic ones pick their battles instead of chasing martyrdom at the first opportunity.
Yep, and it’s not even about picking battles or rEjEcTiNg aUtHoRiTy it’s about not expecting a fucking hospital to lead the initial charge of the revolution.
Lemmy loves to shitpost about anarchism but I don’t hear about any CEOs getting fragged on a weekly basis yet these lazy fucks think a corporate hospital admin team is supposed to hold the door.
The vast majority of hospitals in the US do not allow police entry without a warrant, safety concern or an emergent situation (or a procedural reason - victim interviews and similar are sometimes done in hospital, as well as supervision of physical evidence collection (or the actual collection itself if the hospital doesn’t have a certified forensic examiner (or legal/jurisdictional equivalent) on staff)), why are you just making stuff up you clearly don’t know about dude?
Missed the point, friend
No, I didn’t. They’re just fucking stupid.
“What are you in for?”
“Human decency and compassion”
“Yeah, that’ll do it”
Makes sense why the hospital fired her too. Can’t afford do be associated with things like decency and/or compassion
First time?
Straight to the Group W bench.
She better be getting the best legal representation possible.
A real American Hero. Very appropriate name lol
I’ll donate a crowbar to her cause
Almost as hot as Luigi
