Still, according to another well-placed source, while some senior staff are expressing disappointment in how it all went down, “it is in no way widespread”.

    Keep cancelling

Yup. The fact that supposedly some higher-ups already weren’t on board with this decision means that consumer pressure here is more important than ever

Disney deserves it for lots of reasons anyway. Like the pillaging and privatisation of the common culture, the weaponising of intellectual property, among others.

If the far right can stand up an independent production company and make a go at it, why can’t everyone else do the same thing?

In the Internet age, it doesn’t really matter if you can’t get broadcast rights on cable or OTA… just stand up a streaming service, get contracts with Akamai and CloudFlare, lease studios in a few major cities (or even work out of garages and have remote audiences, mixed with live shows at random venues… works for youtube influencers), and operate off of a mix of subscriptions, ad placements, and traditional ads from companies who are fed up with what the US government is doing.

All these employees know how to do this stuff; it’s their jobs. Why not work for an employee held company instead and ditch the fear of reprisal/job loss?

Disney needs to suffer permanently for bowing down to a lame ass Nazi like trump and his team of pedophiles and fake Christians.

And it will be way too late for Disney and abc, those subscribers won’t be coming back, ever.

Actually returning as customers will show Disney they in fact do need to pay attention to the customers in the future, and that boycotts will influence their decisions in the future.

yep, otherwise it’ll just be a revolving door as people shift from company to company

like up here in Canada with grocery stores. people boycotts Loblaws, but other chains will do equally bad shit a few months later. so the net result is what, exactly?

gotta actually reward good behaviour, not just punish bad

The article states that the feeling that they fucked up in being fascist collaborators is not wide spread therefore this is not good behavior to be rewarded.

This is panicky collaborators simply looking at their temporarily subscriber numbers and trying to do PR control. These executives have not learned a thing here and doing good behavior, it’s still bad, reactionary behavior that deserves to be continued punishment.

My two cents, unless Iger and the majority of the edifices are fired, continue to boycott.

Wouldn’t it be great if after all this they give Kimmel his spot back, only for him to use his first appearance back to give a big middle finger of a monologue then quit.

Ever seen that employee that got fired illegally and was rehired to prevent lawsuits? They become untouchable. Only instance I’ve seen personally was a Sears employee that woke from a 2 wk coma to find out she had been fired and thus her insurance was cancelled. Sears gave her backpay, a raise, three weeks of paid vacation for recovery, and pretty much let her just do her job without much criticism until she retired. She could have had more but she was a very kind and honest woman (sadly she passed about 10 years ago).

No, you see, taking action using the means you have available right now might mean inconveniencing yourself in some way! Better to just keep feeding the machine and fantasize about some Glorious Revolution that will make everything better. It’s the Leftist Way.

I’m sure he would have already if he didn’t have his staff to think about.

It’s hard to take a moral high ground when you end up leaving several dozen people out in the dust. Whether he genuinely cares for them (and I’m sure most people like at least some of their co-workers) or it would just be bad PR, walking away and leaving them with nothing probably won’t mesh with any message he’d be trying to send.

I meant quits ABC. He could start another show and hire everyone back. He has the means to do it, and plenty of people would watch it.

Starts another show where? Paramount’s not an option for the same reasons they canned Colbert. Doubt WB would take him with the rumors that they are looking to sell out as well. He could go to an indie like Dropout, but that means a smaller scale production and no way he can hire everyone back.

The problem with media consolidation is that it limits options.
